Green grows the grasses oh
Green grows the grasses oh
The stream flows with a gay resound
Murmuring music far from the town
Look in the tree that lucky perching lark
A bird’s eye sees the meadow green with piles of steaming bark
Contemplate this vast world of green
A man by a campfire can barely be seen
From high as a vulture can soar
From pastures of grass to ocean’s misty shore.
Then descending mind’s eye gaze through bearded trees and matted yellow leaves
Descending still under ground where the seeds of tomorrow can be found
Dark layers of worlds yet to come
Long after this one is done
Muted footsteps solumn human feet
Searching for love and belonging and something to eat
Those seeds lay patient to feel the sun and when their time has begun
On earth-ship digging through leaves those daughters and son
Under tyranny of rain and snow
Man and Woman has begun to sow
Then when that shaft beams down with its holy light
The joy of life that feels so right
May the earth again still be inspired
Bare earthy feet unmired
Oh come dance here in the sun
Growing strong one by one
Look for yourself and you may see
The green green grass growing near that tree
